We are just back from our annual camping trip with family and friends. The group continues to grow, but with that new friendships are created, more laughs, more fun is had.
Weather worked for us this year. Sunny days with cool evenings allowed for campfires each evening which is always welcome. I so enjoy this weekend and we look forward to it all year.

Already booked for 2020 😀

40 Years...

Guy and I attended our 40th High School reunion this past weekend. It was surreal to see so many that I have actually known for over 50 years. This reunion was particularly special as it marked 10 years since Guy and I reconnected “in the real world” and started a friendship that ended with us finally together.

The weekend was a two part gathering. Friday Night was open to anyone, no matter when they graduated at The Harbour Grill. That was so special as we saw some folks we didn’t graduate with, but also had not seen in many, many years, maybe even all the way back 40. Saturday night was the main event. I may be bias since I helped plan it but I think it was our best yet. Great location, food was so good, music was perfect. There were smiles, hugs, laughter, tears all evening. I am not sure if I will help plan the next one as we live so far away but Guy and I will definitely be there.

Our Day on Lake Gaston

Originally we were heading out for a long holiday weekend of camping but due to the events of the past few weeks I decided I wanted to stay at home for the earlier part of the weekend so from Wed - Friday that is exactly what we did. We stayed home, cleaned out closets, cleaned carpets and enjoyed the pool.

Saturday though we had promised to visit friends who own a home on Lake Gaston (on the Virginia/NC border) and Guy thought it was best for me to get out of the house and do something different so early Saturday morning we headed to the Lake. It is just a three hour drive and holiday traffic was our friend so no delays were to be had and after stopping for a quick breakfast we arrived to a beautiful day, beautiful home and beautiful lakefront to enjoy for the next day and half.

We had a fantastic time just watching the kids (and a few adults) enjoy all the water toys while we caught up, had some drinks, enjoyed the fantastic sunny weather and just relaxed. We also were taking out for a boat ride (video below) to see the lake as I had never been there before. Anyone who knows me knows that boating is one of my favorite things and I would do it every weekend if possible so I jumped on the chance to go for the ride.  I was not disappointed :)

When Friends Come Calling

We were so blessed to have our good friends George and Deb come for a visit last weekend. They were looking for a kick-back, nothing really planned, weekend and hopefully that is what we shared.

We hung out at home, played a bit of Wii Bowling (I can't believe how badly I played) , visited a very cool Bourbon distillery that neither Guy and I even knew was up the street (A. Smith Bowman Distillery), sat by a fire or two, ate too much and just had fun. Perfect friends weekend.

We are hoping we don't have to wait until November of next year (when we sail on the Allure together) to see each other again. Guy and I are hoping to head to Massachusetts this summer to visit their neck of the woods.

Camping With Friends - Year 3

For the third year straight, Guy and I hooked up the camper and headed to Grey’s Point RV Resort for a weekend of camping.

What started out as only about 10 campers/families has now grown to almost 40 with over 100 people joining us for laughs, food, drinks, a bit of Halloween and lots of fun. We were able to meet so many new people and really enjoyed getting to know them and can’t wait to see them over the years at future gatherings.

Camping with Friends 2018

This year we did deal with rain a few nights and early mornings but luckily our days were not completely rained out. During the rain we took the time to learn more about our new camper.

The weekend goes by so quickly and we always hate to see it end. It helps though that we once again booked our site for 2019 before heading home from the final trip of the season.
